Monday 21st March – bike **** – Two river, the Orwell to the Deben – sunny and mild.

After a fantastic weekend with our son Robert with the lovely Grandson Arlo, even managed a quick windsurf foil on Saturday and being stuck under a huge high pressure the lovely sunny weather continues but it is naff for windsurfing as only light winds, might not get another sail this month but it is ideal for bike riding so not all bad news! The day started well with a pic in the local paper, then up for breakfast before doing my exercises in the garden as Mag sorts out the house plants that live in our bedroom:) I then make a sandwich and we head on our bikes, a little late to go too far so we head down to the old jetty at Landguard for lunch. The heavy plant is still replacing the beach and there is a lot of boat action with three large barges still ships heading to the docks before turning and heading out to sea, not sure what they are up to? We sit in our usual spot on the old railway sleepers with the tide high and the sea sparkling although it is very hazy and you can’t see Essex! We are there ages enjoying the peace and quiet before returning back through the nature reserve and onto the prom. At the pier Mag turns off to buy the local paper while I continue to Felixstowe Ferry into a slight headwind which is a tad on the nippy side and I should have had my gloves on! A quick spin around the boat yard before taking the short route home for a cuppa and homemade cake:) There could be lots more biking/walking in the coming week!
